What does NFPA 285 compliance mean?

NFPA 285 is the standard fire test for exterior wall assemblies containing combustible components, required by IBC for most multi-story commercial buildings. ThermoSeal 5G has been tested and approved for wall assemblies with brick, metal panel, aluminum, and other cladding on Type I, II, III, and IV construction of any height per 2015, 2018, and 2021 IBC. Without NFPA 285 compliance, spray foam cannot be used in most commercial wall assemblies above two stories.
