Product Questions & Answers

Technical answers for homeowners, builders, architects, and installers.

ThermoSeal open cell products (500 and 800) are lighter density (0.5–0.75 lb/ft³), totally water blown, and provide R-4.1 to R-4.5 per inch. They excel at air sealing and sound dampening (NRC up to 0.75). ThermoSeal closed cell products (HFO and 5G) are medium density (2.0 lb/ft³), HFO blown with Forane 1233zd (GWP of 1), and provide R-7.3 to R-7.4 per inch. They add vapor barrier properties, structural strength, and moisture protection.
ThermoSeal 500 and 800 are totally water blown with a Global Warming Potential of 1, the lowest in the industry. ThermoSeal HFO and 5G use Forane 1233zd LBA, a next-generation HFO blowing agent with a GWP of 1, which is 99.9% lower than traditional HFC blowing agents. All ThermoSeal products contain ZERO ozone depleting substances.
ThermoSeal 5G is specifically designed for commercial and industrial applications. It is NFPA 285 compliant for commercial wall assemblies with brick, metal, or aluminum cladding on Type I, II, III, and IV buildings of any height per 2015, 2018, and 2021 IBC. For commercial roofing, ThermoSeal HFO is approved for fortified roofs with wind uplift ratings up to 286 mph (UL 1897).
Yes. ThermoSeal 500 and 800 hold IAPMO Evaluation Report ER-0603. ThermoSeal HFO and 5G hold IAPMO Evaluation Report ER-0698. All products achieve Class 1 fire rating per ASTM E 84, meet ICC-ES AC377 Appendix X for ignition barrier exemption, pass NFPA 286 thermal barrier testing, and meet or exceed ASTM C 1029 Type II requirements.
ThermoSeal 500 and 800 (open cell): Primary heater and hose target 129°F, processing pressure 1,200 PSI, 1:1 mixing ratio by volume. ThermoSeal HFO and 5G (closed cell): Primary heater and hose target 110–120°F, processing pressure 1,200–1,450 PSI, 1:1 mixing ratio by volume. All products require substrates 10°F above dew point and free of debris. Refer to the Technical Data Sheet for complete processing parameters.
